Tight & Toned Arms

Tuesday, March 3, 2009

I have been wanting to post about the "uproar" over the first lady's (Michelle Obama) bare arms during the President's speech last week. OMG, don't these people have anything better to complain about!!!??? First of all, the thought of her bare arms being "wrong" never even entered my mind! She had on a beautiful dress, looked gorgeous in it & is a great role model for adults and children alike to be healthy & fit no matter how busy you happen to be! I think this craziness has to stop! Maybe it was just plain jealousy or politics... who knows!

As for tight & toned arms, quite honestly, you can just do a variety of push-ups in your own home & eat cleaner & your arms are going to start to look good in 2-3 months. If you keep that up & eat healthy, you will see great results in six months. You can add in specific tricep, bicep & shoulder exercises too that can easily be done at home with dumbbells, water bottles, resistance bands  or other items you have that provide a good weight for you to get results.

BUT, on the push-ups, you can do: regular ones; close to side (elbows pointing back); triangle or close grip position (your index & thumbs of both hands meet when you place your hands on the floor to start the push-up); feet elevated; hands elevated; push-ups on a medicine ball, larger swiss exercise ball, Bosu balance trainer or uneven disc. There are so many different ways to do push-ups and while you are working your arms, you are also working your shoulders, chest, back & core. Remember, you have to hold your alignment & body position correctly which will really work the core (like a plank).

Now remember, you are not going to see the results of your hard work unless you get your body fat  percentage down
(just like abs.. you can do all the ab work in the world but unless you burn off body fat, you can't see them). So, while toning up your arms/upper body, you have to try to eat better & cleaner.

So, bare your arms no matter what season it is. If you work hard to get them, them show them off!
