Lose Weight with Support & Accountability
I want post on how support and accountability can really make a difference in a person's ability to lose weight & keep it off. We all know that many people just need another person helping or cheering them on, they need the accountability that there is someone else invested in their weight loss goals, they just like to have the companionship when exercising & if you pick the right partner for that, the person can really push you. Pay attention to that one point. If you are exercising with someone, make sure you have similar goals & both are willing to push one another otherwise it can turn into you supplying each other with excuses not to exercise OR if your goals are different, it may become to frustrating if you prefer to be doing something else.Diet Blog had a great & short article about this. It explains accountability, getting others to join in with your plan for family/friend support and practical support like maybe switching up child care duties with another friend so that you each can make it to the gym or outside for a walk or jog or bike ride. Don't feel alone. Ask for help. Read this great article with simple advice here: Get a Support System.
Also, the other day I posted an article about Calories In, Calories Out. The study showed that it did not matter which type of diet you were on but it came down to how much you were eating vs. how many calories you were burning off each day. Diet Blog posted this study today on their blog & outlined it very nicely so you may want to check it out again there but part of that study said: "According to lead researcher Dr. Frank Sacks: The effect of any particular diet group is minuscule, but the effect of individual behavior is humongous. We had some people losing 50 pounds and some people gaining five pounds. That's what we don't have a clue about. I think in the future, researchers should focus less on the actual diet but on finding what is really the biggest governor of success in these individuals."
To me, this is a no brainer. It really does come down to you & you being accountable for your body & taking the step to lose the weight, eat better & get healthy. You have to make choices & small steps that will allow you to maintain these healthy habits long term. You can give any person a diet of some form but that person has to be willing to work at wanting to be healthier. Find what works for you & what you can live with long term & for life!
